The isolation of high quality DNA from environmental samples such as soil is essential for use in downstream applications. Two common issues often encountered with the purification of DNA from soil are the ability to fully lyse microbial organisms in the soil as well as the sufficient removal of inhibitors that are commonly found in soil and copurify with the DNA. Here, we describe an automated method for the purification of DNA from soil samples using the Maxwell® 16 instrument.
